About the Candidate

District Attorney Shameca Collins is the daughter of Ricky and Beatrice “Ms. Bea” Collins and the mother of one son. She is a 1999 graduate of Natchez High School and a 2003 graduate of Alcorn State University. Ms. Collins received her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2007.

She humbly requests your support as she runs to be re-elected to the Office of District Attorney for the Sixth Judicial District.

I am proud to announce my campaign to be re-elected as the District Attorney of the 6th Circuit District (Adams, Amite, Franklin and Wilkinson Counties). I have served in this position for the past four years, and I have stayed committed to ensuring that justice is served in our community in a fair way.

During my first term, I have fulfilled many of the promises that I made when I first ran for this office. During my first campaign, I told you all that I believed that my duty is not to convict, but to see that justice is done. I also told you that I am tough on crime, but being tough on crime doesn’t mean that we should destroy lives. When crimes are committed, we should be hard on criminals; but we should also work to rehabilitate our citizens that have lost their way.
